Odor Control Systems
In a typical chemical scrubbing odor control system, the odorous air from main sources such as sewage a wet well or screen area, is ventilated to the odor control unit by the fan. The extracted air is pushed into one or several chemical scrubber(s) for treatment. The polluted air is passed through a packing media where it comes into contact with the scrubbing solution containing chemical reagents.
Similar to all absorption processes the odorous gases are first dissolved into the liquid phase and then react with the chemical agents. Clean air is then discharged through a stack installed on top of the scrubber. Treatment can be conducted in 1, 2, or 3 different stages; therefore the removal efficiency in a typical chemical scrubber systems may reach up to 99.99% or even higher if needed!
A scrubbing liquid is recirculated in a chemical scrubber by a re-circulation pump. In addition, a water softener may be used for make-up water. A chemical dosing system, including storage tanks and dosing pumps, are also the main components of the system.
